I think they have to give you 90 days notice if they sell the dwelling. Also they have to pay you to leave early. So if he wanted you out, he'd have to pay you out, and is on the hook for certain inconvenience expenses. But it doesn't sound like he would do that willingly. I would make a list of ALL the things wrong, go to the rental board and refuse to pay rent until it's brought up to proper standard. Then use the rent free time to find a new place.

Another day another dollar, just picked up my copy of Arkham City and 9.5 out of 10 is an understatement score for this game. This game is a 10 in my eyes.

I'm glad your friend had support and was able to get away, I have a friend whose sister wasn't so lucky. I know both are topics that a lot of people try to pretend don't happen, but for someone who has dealt with either situation, the world can be a pretty lonely place.
