My description of last night (see prev) could never come close to LilJackKnife's--visual aids help sooo much. So I shall just gracfully bow out. and I really don't talk that much (oh, perhaps not so gracefully).
It is nice to know that you really CAN have fun in Miami once in a while. Yea Jackie!
Onwards: I have a new addiction. Wasabi Peas. I just discovered this dry little nuggets of sinus bursting goodness, and now I can't stop crunching them. Does anyone else have this problem. Whoever came up with them is a culinary genius, I mean I Looooove wasabi, and I hate peas, but together they're craptacular.
There is something in Florida that I have never tried, not being a native, but that intrigues me--boiled peanuts, also called green peanuts (at least I think that they are the same thing). Next time I'm scooting through central Florida (something that I try to do as quickly as possibe) I'll have to stop at one of those roadside stands and try me up some.
Peanuts are another one of those things, like monkeys, noodles and strip cheese, that are innately funny (see list previous previous journal entry. One of my favorite vintage bowling shirt has the logo of Kings Roasted Peanuts from solon, ohio --the peanut factory for many airlines. But my all time favorite one is from Krinkle House Donuts in Snively Ohio. The Strohs one isn't so bad, either.
Q: and what / which is your favorite cheesey corporate sponsored peice of vintage clothing, preytell?
Perhaps LilJackKnife will bring her camera to some punk rock show at Churchills tonight. More photo mayhem? guh.

msg is a wonderful thing
and my thesis is on joyce's ulysses - i'm writing on the way the text teaches one to to read. i think that any reasonably intelligent, literate person can read ulysses, but people tend to be scared off, especially by the body of critical literature. i'm trying to figure out exactly what joyce's aesthetic/epiphany idea meant for the "common" reader - not the academic. how the text invites dissection, then prevents it, putting itself back together. i'm focusing on circe, sirens and either nausikaa or penelope. it's vague at this point because my "mini-orals," the first semester examination, went terribly, so i needed to rethink my direction - also, i'm an undergrad and all, so i don't so much know how to do this. funfunfun!! and thanks for being interested...
