weeeeeel,
today I was a whirlygig of productivity, a dissertating fool, Henry Ford's wet dream. I have roughly 95 pages.
And i have had a mixed blessing bestowed (possibly) upon me, like a sloppy kiss upon my stormy brow. Dare I say, in fear of big jinx? I dare, I dare. nix to jinx: Chances are I shall be teaching modern American literature at the University of Miami in the fall. A blessing? yaar, but it means that I shall be stuck in a city I donut like. And it also means apartment hunting ... I am going to try for a coach / guest house cabana thing with yard for cat. All in all a relief ... well, that is if it actually happens... cross your fingers, toes, eyes, pineal gland, legs, arms, etc, ad naseum...
my cat just stares at me all the time. she stares and stares and stares... (see photo)
ONe of the things that I miss about Cleveland is the West Side Market, this wonderful deco European style Market that pelted you with smells and yells and jostling elbows, as well as with bratwurst, pierogies, stalls of german bread, roasted nuts, fresh pasta, and the best falafel sandwhiches in the kingdom. outside were the fruit sellers, vegetable sellers, flower sellers, each pushing samples of the ripest wares upon you. Saturday mornings I would ride my bike there, and after shopping I would get a sandwhich and climb the stairs to the mezzanine and watch the bustle below. Cleveland is a very ethnically diverse city, and every language and color of person and every type of food was contained in that one cavernous building. It is still there. I am not. I am stuck with a three minute walk to plastic publix to buy my meely lackluster tastless comestibles.
I think I need a trip...
