So, after months and months and endless this and that, it all comes down to tomorrow.
I have been more involved in this election than I ever have with any other. This is fucking huge. It's such a relief to know that tomorrow will be the beginning of the end for George Bush. For the past eight years we have all witnessed the most incompetent and dangerous administration that we will ever (hopefully) see on this planet. Thousands have died for this man's agendas, and the effects of his rule will be felt for way too many years after this. For a man to actually steal a national election, and cause this much chaos is an embarrassment to all of us. He and his cronies have systematically fucked our economy, our global reputation, and our hope in the future. When our grandchildren read about him in the history books, I'm sure they won't even begin to understand how that could happen in America.
Fortunately, we are not having to settle for a lesser of two evils this time. I have a lot of faith in Barack Obama, and anticipate great things to come if he wins. It won't be an overnight change, and he will make mistakes, but overall my hope is being restored. The change will come, folks. One day we will look back on these last eight years and just shake our heads.
When I early voted last week, I almost teared up. It felt wonderful to vote. I live in Texas, a state that will probably never overwhelmingly vote for a Democrat, but just knowing my voice was going to be heard made me feel good. It felt awesome to acknowledge to myself the progress that this country has made over the past fifty years. It was in our parent's generation that African Americans were still considered inferior, and racism was an accepted (and even encouraged) behavior. Now, there is a great chance that come tomorrow night, we will have an African-American president. One that loves his country, one that believes in freedom, and one that will pick this country up off it's ass and get it going in the right direction.
Please, everyone, go out tomorrow and vote if you already have not. Don't be intimidated, and know your rights. Don't let the Republicans get away with stealing another election. Don't let them keep us in a bullshit war. Don't let them scare us anymore.
Peace.
