WHAT IS MY BEST QUALITY?

This is actually an easy one for me to answer, but it has also been my downfall so many times in my life.
My best quality is I'm far too generous. I've always put it down to the socialist DNA that runs through my bones, my family were always union conveyors sticking up for their workforce, marching them out several times in the 70's and 80's. That whole looking out for the wellfare of others has dominated my life, in the most part I'd say I've actually put the wellfare of my friends and loved ones ahead of my own. If I can help a friend in need even if I have to suffer slightly to do it, then I will.
But this has left me open to people taking the piss out of my good nature, yet I never seem to learn. There have been two times a girlfriend robbed me blind, both of whom actually borrowed £1000 from me and then vanished off the face of the earth. I still hunt for their names in newspapers hoping to find out what happened to them, I'd love to be able to tell them exactly how their theft put me in a bad position. They both made my life hell for quite some time while I struggled to get back on my feet financially.
Even now my bestie who is not exactly great with her finances, I still find myself lending her money, always getting the promise of being paid back, yet I know in my heart it'll never come.
Will I ever learn? Or should I continue on the same path, because I know in certain circumstances I can put a huge smile on the face of someone not so fortunate as myself, there is always someone worse off than you. Guess that's why I do what I do. I like bringing a moment of joy to someone who might not have had it had I not helped out.
