So many times in the past I moaned about my 8 till 5 boring existence, never again. We don't know how lucky we all are to be healthy enough to live such a boring life. Five weeks ago tomorrow I was questioning "Why me? What have I ever done?" I thought I was being punished, I had never felt pain like that before, and there is more to come before I'm back at work, but Jesus I'm so lucky, this experience has opened my eyes to the suffering of others, other people a lot of worse off than me and they don't moan, they don't complain, they get on with it and make the most of their lives. I was hobbling through the hospital last week and there was a guy in a wheelchair with only one leg, and it made me realise how lucky the rest of us are. Stop whinging about work when you have your health, it could be taken away in a split second. Anyone of us could end up in a wheelchair, dependant on painkillers, dependant upon others, school kids making fun of you as they are prone to do. These are the people who are truly strong, facing that life every day and they just get on with it. This experience has and will continue to change me, and make me a better person, more open to how others not so fortunate live and lead their lives.
