heavy heavy low low: a good way to start the day. with loud, aggresive music, break downs and hardcorde dancing. watched from the sound board (jk was working the show) but couldnt stay away from the middle.
rx bandits: i havent really listened to this band since high school warped tour days. theyre the reason i came when doors opened but was greatly disappointed when hopes of nostalgia caused by songs of the past were broken due to an all new setlist. a little let down but the new stuff is still good (to someone im sure)
the wrens: theyre old! i didnt know this. when the meadowlands came out (long ago) used to be one of my favorite albums. and they played everything great from that. even the last song (this is not what you had planned) which they respectively closed with. i used to put that song on repeat all night till i fell asleep.
ahh...
zion-i/living legends/sage francis: a great melting pot of hip hop on the main stage (they played seperately, yes). zion-i seemed to be the first group people got excited for while sage did a remix of jay-z - 99 problems (99 rappers but jay-z aint one).
explosions in the sky: wow! the sole reason i bought the ticket. and i wasnt too disapointed. although 2 songs i would have thought to be standard in thier set (first breathe after coma and your hand in mine) they didnt play, i was still brought to partial tears for only the second time ever. (first: sigur ros. sigur ros i can understand. the whole forgien icland, non-english - non-iclandic sometimes even - tones and melodies can be overwhelming but by four joe shmoe dudes from austin?)
xiu xiu: a late addition to the bill. i wasnt aware of thier scheduled appearance untill i had gone to see them the night before at the great american music hall. id seen them last noise pop when they played there with the velvet teen. something was missing then. this time they had a live drummer which totally livened things up. jamie seemed to have more energy the night prior and thier set got cut really shor. long story short:friday was better (although deerhoof drummer greg saunier set up his tiny drum set on the side and played along with them for a song was a unexpected)
deerhoof: midway though xiu xiu, like right now. im getting tried. id already seen everyone i havent seen before and all that left are bands ive seen numerous times but i know will be good. halfway through deerhoof i step out to see what else is going on. girl talk is in the main room. people are going crazy! theyve told eveyone to climb on stage and theres al least a hundred people up there dancing and partying away. i decided to join in and part take. once i finally sneak pass security im greated by a big gorilla-esque man i know too well. a man by the name of bruce from work who is running monitors for the main stage. he goes to yell at me to get the f*** off the stage, realizes who i am, pauses in mid f bomb, and them procceds to ask me to help him get people off the stage.
the rapture: good. seen before. stayed a little. danced. had to leave to catch bart home.
all in all. great day. 11 hours of music in a huge hall that wasnt even 1/2 fill to capacity. well worth the $30 ticket.

as long as you finish school for me, and then pay off my loan debt.
saeta:
yeah, that'd be great. as long as you don't mind dragging around three weird kids. one straight edge, one chain smoking and one drunk.
