So okinawa is excactly how i remember it. Hot humid, and boring. The culture around here is vast and wonderous indeed, but i saw most of the island on my first visit so there is little in the way of new discoveries save the occasional bar or two. KenTown is located just outside camp Hansen where i'm at. The locals are moody as usual, and you'd be lucky to find a bar or restaraunt that servs americans. The okinawan folks have a huge stick up thier ass when it comes to marines. Can't say that i blame then though. Marines are loud abnoxious and violent, and thats when sober. Drunk is a whole different story. Most crimes around here are caused by amreicans fighting americans. I try to avoid the bars mainly to save money, but moslty to steer clear the assholes from other companies looking to pick fights, and knowing me when i get drunk i'm more than happy to oblige. most of my fellow sailors are attatched to ships so i'm something of a rarity. I've seen alot of familiar faces here. Most of the guys i knew from OIF 1 back in faluja. we catch up on old times about who saved who's ass that one time, or some poor bastard that got blown up glasses are raised and the moments are silienced. Its nice to be here is this traquility, but it won't last. in about a month we set sail for the phillipines where we will link up with the phillipino marines doing jungle warfare training. then to korea i believe. after that we will return to oki where we will be almost immediately flown to afghanistan sometime in december. Another christmas in the desert.
