This warrants an OH EM GEE!
I'm in town auditioning for Mannes School of Music through the New School University for classical voice. Ever since I was 9 years old, opera has pretty much dominated my life because I was lucky enough to be part of a choir that supplies the children's choruses for every major opera company, dance company and symphony in Toronto.
Over 1000 people apply initially for voice at Mannes. 600 audition. 200 are asked to come to NYC for a live callback and 31 people (14 from my category) are asked for the final callback. Guess what, my sweet little kittens? I'm one of the lucky 14. So, tomorrow from 9:45 to 2ish, I'm doing various interviews and exams. Wish me luck!
NYC is SO beautiful. I'm right by Carnegie Hall and I've been having fun just walking around and looking at things. So far I've hit Times Square, Central Park, most of the upper West side, a lot of midtown and I've been snacking the whole time. Thanks so much for the advice on where to snack, as I'm defnitely hitting as much as I can. Hopefully I'll get through Chelsea, Soho, Tribeca, Nolita, Little Italy and Chinatown (!!!!) after my exams tomorrow. Then it's along the bottom and up the East side all Saturday and into Sunday. The last time I was here (which was with a group of about 20 others) we spent a lot of time around the Financial District and the fancy shmancy parts of Midtown, so I'm happy to be allowed to wander a little more freely.
Anyway, I'll update later. Send me your good vibes, and I promise to return them as soon as I'm back in Toronto.

Break both legs, sweets. And stop by if you're in SoHo.
