I love being short and busty. The short part allows me to get into movies as a child, saving me over 5 bucks. The busty part has allowed me to do all sorts of adult things since I actually WAS a child. I saw Hitch tonight, and it was surprisingly funny and sweet. I didn't have high expectations going in, as it was just a film my sister picked out, but it was pretty damn good. Besides, I have a huge boner for Kevin James and Michael Rappaport (what an odd set of crushes, eh?), so I was biased.
I like spending time with my sister. We fought a hell of a lot growing up because of our surroundings, but we're really getting along now. It's really sweet, because whenever we go out, she insists on putting her dance music on my stereo while we get ready. It's sort of a cute ritual, and she makes me laugh by improvising bad dance moves. Mostly, we just make a ton of fun of people around us whenever we go out, and she's really bad at it because she just laughs out loud while staring.
I bought some great stuff with some old gift certificates. New earrings, a really cheap purse, a pair of embroidered flats and a few t-shirts. I know I'm the biggest girl ever, but shopping makes me very happy, especially when it's with gift certificates. I just wish it'd be damn spring already, because I've got a closet full of fun little skirts and nothing to do with them except look at them whistfully and wish that it weren't so cold out.
I feel like I'm sort of coming into the person I've always wanted to be. I'm organized and less awkward looking, which is a pretty big thing to me. I guess I just feel less insecure because of it, which is making me way more inclined to be outgoing around people I don't really know, which has always been my big problem. I have close friends and I'm fine with complete strangers, but when it comes to people that I'm only aquainted with, I completely seize up. I'll have to work on that one.
No ink yet. I'm getting some drawings of the lotus and the ice cream cone, though. And, for those of you who wondered, I've though about the ice cream cone tattoo because of a song called "Soft Serve" by Soul Coughing. Something about the song feels so in line with my life, regardless of it's melancoly undertones. For all of those who aren't aquainted with the song, may I reccommend that you purchase yourselves a copy of Irresistable Bliss. The opening guitar chords alone make my chest swell.
Really, get your hands on all Soul Coughing and Mike Doughty releases. You will not be let down. Especially by Mike's stuff. The music fills you with these feelings that you can't express in words, then the lyrics explain those feelings to you in a way that is both relevant to moments and experiences in your life and that makes you completely blown away by his astuteness. Wow, my friends.
Here are the lyrics to Soft Serve by Soul Coughing:
The body like soft serve, dripping down in the June sun,
I tried to shoot a thought, but the thought sunk.
Nothing to do but scratch words in the dirt and
Watch the water roll down.
Phantom kisses buzzing like the insects.
Beads of sweat dripping down on the rent check.
My Candyland melted down to syrup while I
Watched the water roll down.
And here comes the lust in phaze,
but you're down in Marietta.
So sweet my mouth was seared,
But the words you mouthed were sweeter.
My Sister,
Your words can be held against you in a court of law.
My Sister, You owe no allegiance to the facts.
And you're talking like the saint on the site of the accident.
Talking like the clause in the lease about the late rent.
Ringing like the random call patched to the payphone.
Talking like the water rolls down.
Talking like the saint on the site of the accident.
Talking like the botched shot, attempt on the President.
Ringing like the change in the legless man's Dixie Cup.
Talking like the water rolls down.
Day Undone,
Day Undone,
Day Undone,
Watch the water roll down.
Ahhhh. I'm going to go have a listen right now.
