I’ve been around here for 20 years, and I have seen a lot of changes on the site. Here’s a few fun facts about SG:
- 1) The “SG Since” tag on every SuicideGirls’ page isn’t when their first set was SOTD. This is when their account was created. Some girls were members first (like me or @Nebula), so this will show when the account was made. Some girls go straight into being Hopefuls when they joined, so that will show when their application was submitted.
- 2) Member Review has only been around since 2008. Before MR, you were either a SuicideGirl or a Limbo Girl. A Limbo Girl was an SG who had a set purchased but wasn’t live on the site yet. Before MR, we had a thing called “Second Chance Sunday” and every Sunday a rejected SG set and hopeful set were purchased and featured as SOTD. This eventually turned into MR and ALL sets became reviewed by members before they hit the front page.
- 3) We used to have a favorites folder, where you could “save” your favorite pictures. I wish this was something that we could have again - maybe one day!
- 4) If you have an SG Logo tattoo, you can get a free lifetime membership. There are rules though. Want to know how to get that? Email help@suicidegirls.com for the info.
- 5) A lot of the girls who made it onto the Blackheart Burlesque were NOT SGs before making the team. Typically when a girl made the team, they were able to decide if they wanted to shoot for the site. Some of the girls were selected pretty quick, but there were some that had to go through MR. I always thought it was important that the dancers were selected quickly and got featured as SOTD so that the site members were familiar with them before they went out on tour. It did seem to cause some ripples around here, but imagine being selected and working so hard and dancing every night and people still saying you didn’t deserve it?
- 6) There are currently 4,520 SGs on the site. Not every girl will be your cup of tea, but I’m sure you’ll find at least one out there that you like!
- 7) Have you ever seen SG on tv? There is an old episode of CSI: New York that features several OG SGs. On Californication, there is a character that is an SG - you can actually find her on the site @Danica. People were really confused by this profile but it was simply a tie-in with the show! She never had an actual set!
- 8) We also have a comic book SG - @Cassie. This character was featured in the comic Hack/Slash. When this set went live on SG, there was some discourse that a cartoon SG had “stolen” SOTD from the actual models but it’s honestly a really cool idea! @monipsycho even did a tribute for the 20th anniversary.
Penny has been working her tail off lately with some staffing changes and I’ve been trying hard to be as much of a presence as possible. I want to remind you all that this is not my full time job, and I’m only here as much as I can be. If you’re ever curious about who actually works for SG - please check out the About page here: https://www.suicidegirls.com/about/
I’m always open for questions, but keep in mind that I do not handle anything to do with set purchasing or model approvals. I am not a developer and I cannot make updates based on suggestions, but I will do my best to pass them along (also - you can post in the Suggestions thread in the Everything SG group). So what do I actually do around here, (successfully?) you might ask? I’m the one helping with your payment, your account, your password. I’m moderating to make sure that the content posted doesn’t violate any rules. I’m making sure the model payments are getting processed in a timely manner (I actually approve them daily).
We’re trying our best here, and I really hope y’all see that. Remember that grace costs you nothing, and kindness goes a long way. Thanks!
