I've been back from Europe for almost a month now, and I miss everything so much, especially my sister. She lives in Zurich doing post-doc research and has been there for almost two years. She's planning to stay in Europe for a while so I'm sure I will go back again.
I met her in Vienna and we spent a couple of days in Austria. We explored Vienna a bit and ate the best food. We also drove out to Steinbrunn where our grandfather is from. We have a really weird last name and we stumbled upon the little cemetery in town there. The weirdest thing was seeing that about 1/3 of the graves had our last name - maybe some sort of relatives. (I found out our great grandparents' grave was removed because my uncle didn't pay the bill there - I had no clue that could even happen. WHERE DO THEY PUT THE DEAD PEOPLE?)
Next, we flew to Paris and spent a couple of days there. We stopped by Disneyland Paris, walked a whole hell of a lot, went to the Louvre, and ate croissants and creme brûlée. We were there over labor day so a lot of the city was closed down. There were also protests but we didn't see anything other than a melted, burned garbage can. We then hopped on a train and went down to Marseille to see another part of France. Marseille is GORGEOUS, guys! The people there were so friendly.
Next, we went up to Zurich because my sister had plans to run the city with her coworkers and friends. We had a little barbecue with some of her friends and I drank lots of Aperol spritzes. She showed me around the city. It was super clean compared to the other cities and where I live back home.
I want to try to go again but probably not til next year. I feel like there's so so much to explore and see and eat!
