I'm a navy brat and a wanderer, so I've had quite a lot of "best friends" in my life. (Shout outs to @momozilla, @nickerz, Jessica, Carolyn, and my dumb ex boyfriend who WAS my best friend until he decided to be dingus). But out of all of these guys, one person has always stayed by my side. Through boyfriends and moves, different hair colors and the brightest of eyeshadows, we've shared a deep love of drag queens, clown makeup, trashy reality tv shows and snacks.
Cassy and I met when I was 16 and she was 15, at Fitch Sr High School in Groton CT (ugh, rotten Groton). We didn't like each other right off the bat, as a lot of girls are suspicious of new people and neither one of us is the most open or friendly person. One day we bonded over our shared love of the band Orgy (bahaha) and we ate Rugrats Mac N Cheese. And the rest is history.
It sucks to be across the country from each other but we try to talk via text or Snapchat or Instagram comments left on too many drag queen Instagram accounts (Sorry Willam and Trixie). We share our interactions with drag queens like they are the biggest celebrities on earth (this one time Willam scolded me for calling his dreads a "wig" .... This is their hair, they don't wear wigs). She's coming to see me for our birthdays - because of course, our birthdays are two days apart which means we luckily get to celebrate them together. We've had joint bday parties, like an Alice in Wonderland theme party I threw for her or our Harry Potter party where we forced everyone to dress up in costume because honestly, who doesn't like getting dressed up?
Here's some pictures of us through the 16 years of friendship that I had saved :)
oh hey 2002.
a flashback of the night we attempted to go to a drag show, right after Season 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race - and 4 out of the 5 of us got roofied at a bar in CT.
When Cassy came to visit for our birthdays in 2014 and I took her to Disneyland :)
And from last year's RPDR finale taping, where we got to be classy, fancy ladies.
She's coming to visit again this September for our birthdays and I CAN'T WAIT. I will be blasting Jai Ho in preparation for months!
