today seems appropriate to mention something i learned a while ago in a 2nd year neuroscience class:
theres this drug called rawolfia, which has interesting effects. when someone takes two large doses, it puts you in a state of suspended animation basically. it slows down your metabolism so much that people would swear that you're dead. this only lasts for about 3 days though, then you wake up. but your not normal, instead you suffer brain damage the entire time your asleep, so when you wake up you wouldnt remember anyone you knew. this drug also grows in warm arid climates, like the middle east around israel, and effects people with temporal lobe epilepsy most. now, temporal lobe epileptics are known to act differently in that they often think that they have a "special purpose" or a mission from god or something.

radiofrank:
That's very interesting (this, and the info you posted on my page). Neuroscience must be fascinating.
