This blog brought to you by Sunday: kid_hideous' day of solitude. For all company and no loneliness makes kid_hideous a dull boy.
I get little enough time alone: between work, my roommate and my lover, the hour's rare that I, alone in my skin and surrounded by silence, have the time to be solely me. For in contrast to theories that the self is constituted solely by society I would remark that, like subatomic particles, we are indeed changed when observed.
So, unseen, my spin and charm and strange whirl on, isolate and inviolate of eyes.
*
In my last blog I was whinging a bit about my lack of creative energy, but this morning (doing the oh-so-apropos to this time of year look back at the old) I realized that this has been a damn fine year, creatively.
My work has appeared in numerous respected journals, I published two books of my own work through publishers I admire, and the new year looks to be starting off right with appearances in several more great journals, continuing collaborations with two of my favorite poets, and two poems of mine starring in an upcoming anthology from Raw Dog Screaming. This last is bombastically titled "Avant-Garde for the New Millenium," but the talent inside is truly formidable, and I'm quite chuffed to be among them.
So enough whining, and on to more work!
*
Besides, my shiny new Xbox 360 and a host of seizure-inducing games are luring me away from thoughts of creativity!
*
Still in the grand tradition of days alone, I shall work today. That is, as soon as I find a fine set or two to view, and play a couple rounds of games!
love,
kid
