Sorry I have'nt been on much or updated recently.
Works been busy, and it's been hard to type anything. I only got my finger out of the splint this week.
The night befor Thanksgiving, my brother and I decided to spar, since we had'nt had a good workout or karate class in a while (more on that in a bit)
He threw a kick, I went to block, and caught all of the force on my right middle finger.
I am not ashamed to admit the I screamed like a nine-year-old little girl.
By the next day, my finger had turned completely purple, and had swollen to the size of a bratwurst.
Went to the emergency room to have it x-rayed to make sure it was'nt broken....it was'nt fortunately. The doctor said that I had severe deep-tissue damage to it though, and they went ahead and put a splint on it.
This is the first time since then I've even been able to move that finger even a little. Still can't bend it fully though, and the damn thing hurts every time I bump it even a little. But it's getting better by the day, so that's good.
As for Kenpo class, my sensei has'nt had class in so long I'm starting to doubt he'll ever start up again....I guess I'm going to have to take up something else.
But the only other martial arts schools in the area are all MMA or Tae Kwon Do.
Don't get me wrong! There's nothing wrong with either one in and of themselves...but, I want to study something more traditional than MMA, and as for Tae Kwon Do, well, all the ones around here are part of the ATA (American Tae-Kwon-Do Association) which I would best describe as the "McDonald's" of martial arts. Far too common, too easy to learn, and most of the teachers are'nt that good.
If could find a really excellent TKD instructor, that would be different, but alas, my sitiuation is as earlier stated.
My best bet right now is a local school teaching Gracie Barra Brazilian Jui Jutsu. They are mostly MMA ground work, but it's better than nothing.
I really do wish I could find something else though...and I mean anything.
Shotokan Karate, Hapkido, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Judo, Combat Sambo, Doce Parres Escrima, Aikijutsu, Jeet Kune Do, Kendo & Iaido, Kempo Kung Fu, Taijutsu, even Krav Maga....anything, ANYTHING but the limited selection that's in the local area that would be no more than a 30 drive from here. I heard about a fellow teaching Combat Hapkido down in Judsonia, but that's more than an hour away! I can't afford to drive that every day AND pay for instruction! FML!
Well that's enough of my bitching...I'm going to bed.
Later my friends
