I used to read alot.
Not like a book a day, or any marathon reading pace like that, but I did what I considered a fair and healthy amount. Three or Four books a year. And I was comfortable with that.
And I have the ability to really become engrossed in the book itself. If it's a story, I can absolutely sit there and get lost in it, to the point where I can just tune the rest of the world out completely. At one point I actually had to set an alarm to stop reading, and go to work, or to sleep, etc.
But a couple of years ago, I just stopped. I don't know why...I just did. I still have three or four books that I'm still in the middle of....bookmarks still in them!
I think I'm going to pick up the habit again.
I work Third Shift....and when I get home, at 4am, there's just nothing on TV, and there's very few places here I can go at that time. It's also hard to get any housework done at that time either, because everybody else is asleep.
So I think it would be a good thing to pick up again.
I won't even have to buy any new books. I have three bookshelves full of them! (though I'll admit...I'm probably going to eventually get some new ones anyway
)
And I made a really decent and quick Chili last night. The recipe goes:
1lb ground beef
1lb ground pork breakfast sausage
2 16oz jars or 1 32oz jar of mild salsa
3 15oz cans of black beans (or red if you like)
1 package of Chili mix (enough for two pounds of meat)
Mix Beef and Sausage together with your hands, then place in a large skillet, and brown.
Remove from heat and drain the fat off of the meat. Then mix the rest of the ingredients, one at a time, into the meat mixture, starting with the Chili Mix, then the Salsa and Beans.
Heat on high till it starts to boil, then cover and reduce to a low simmer, and simmer for 10 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and Serve.
Oh! I forgot!! OPTIONAL: About 2 or 3 minutes before you turn it off, (and I know this will sound uncouth, but trust me) stir in about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of Ketchup! (just trust me.
)
Easy. Peasy. One-Two-Threesy!
Later.

i know what you mean about reading too. i used to read like a maniac, and it seems that the world almost simutaniously stopped reading or something. i've started again. ive read about 5 books in the past month. which is great i think. reading makes me feel complete as a person i think.
Well if you lost interest in drawing yourself, I wouldn't feel too bad. Interests come and go, I don't think people should get too hung up on in when they move on
