Well, this year's Arkansas Scottish Festival was a blast! And I got my new doublet just in time for it too.
There's a funny story about that.
About a week before the festival, I e-mailed Pendragon Costumes to find out if they were going to be able to get my doublet to me in time for the festival. The next morning, I got another e-mail from them with a FedEx tracking number for an overnight package they were sending me.
I thought, "Oh Yeah! That's got to be it!".
So the next day, FedEx knocks on my door leaves a small package on my front porch.
Now, what I ordered from Pendragon Costumes, was a custom made leather doublet with sleeves. Meaning, this should've been a larger package (especially for my size).
I open the package and find a cotton vest inside. No sleeves! No leather! And across the front, my name was written in chalk.
I was furious! This was all they sent me?! This is what I spent more than $300 for?!
I was SO ready to call them up and chew their asses out about this. I looked inside the package for a receipt or something with a phone number.
I turned the package upside-down, and out fell a slip of paper. It was a note. It said that this was merely a mock-up liner made to the measurements I had sent them, and asking me to try it on to see if it fit. It also had a phone number and the name of a person to ask for (obviously, the one who was working on my doublet) to let them know if it fit, and that it was'nt even neccessary for me to send it back, but to keep it.
I started laughing my ass off!!
Here I am acting like a Mad Bull, and they're just presenting me with some excellent customer service!
I called them up, let them know everything was fine, and they said they'd start work on the leather version immediately.
After hanging up, I continued to laugh. I felt like such a Jackass.
They got my Doublet to me the day the festival started. Talk about cutting it close! It started Friday, but I was'nt going until Saturday, as Friday just had the boring stuff like the Golf tournament and Formal Dress Dinner.
Everyone thought my costume was great. I actually had people asking for photos of me!! I've never been asked for that before.
Unfortunately, I did'nt get any good photos for myself. My Brother took some, but they didn't come out good at all. I'll try and remember to put it all on again, and get some photos for here, and the Faire Folk group, but it'll have to wait until my next day off. Sorry.
Well, that's all from me for now. I've rambled on long enough, I believe.
Later my Friends.
