I eat too much ice cream. I love it so much.
As a step towards eating healthier I'm challenging myself to eat only ice cream I've made myself for the next year. This will help me stay on top of how much I'm eating and the ingredients.

How do YOU define success?

texaspsych:
Success is such a slippery thing. The definition continues to change as I grow as a person. It used to mean winning at all costs. The main thing was to win. Then it turned into doing your best and being proud of yourself. Now I am not sure. I feel that Success is closer to becoming a more whole person. I still slip up but that is ok. As long as I learn more about me then I have some form of success.

tos:
I define success as living my life and dealing with the hardships that comes with it. That way when I die, I can high-five my guardian angel, make the promise to her that I'll watch over her, and off she goes to start a new life here on Earth as I watch over her the length of her life as she's doing for me now.

Yeah...I believe...

We had to move my mother-in-law in because she has Alzheimers. Some months after she arrived, she went through a "walk-about" phase, slipping outside and walking in a random direction until she was eventually found. Or trying to at least. Unlike with a growing child, she couldn't be scolded, because she had lost the ability to understand why this was a problem. At the time she was still able to figure out how to work the double lock, and it would sometimes be the middle of the night when she decided it was time for a stretch. She wouldn't put on a coat when she did these walks. Fall was starting, winter can be literally be killing here for those who are not dressed properly. It hurt me badly, and still gives me the jebbers about the fire safety aspect, but fire is a low risk and her wandering was a high risk... so we installed chain locks on the doors. Chain locks that you need a key to open, even from the inside. That handled it for us. These days we can leave the key in plain sight near the lock and she cannot put the idea together... but still it hurts to lock her in.

I understand your concerns, especially when dealing with a precocious and bright toddler.

It was enough work baby-proofing an apartment when my girls were little so I can imagine the huge task of doing it in an entire house.

I'm REALLY homesick right now.
I get to go home in a week, but that's way too far away.

Yesterday was a great day.
Got a job, bought a minivan and went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter. (Saw a double feature with both parts of the last one)

This morning I'm hungover.
No, I didn't drink... I ate my weight in sour patch kids.

Anyone shop at threadless?
Use my link when you do and earn me points tongue

Things here have been pretty nutty. I'm really looking forward to seeing my parents and siblings in a month. We're usually scattered all over north america, so it'll be nice to all be in the same place for a week.

We just had a picnic in the playroom.
Clearly it was mostly for the kids benefit, but mydogfarted took so long assembling our sandwich the kids lost interest (and had already eaten their PB&Js) so we got to have a semi-private lunch together. (I say semi private because there was a bit of toddler climbing us and preschooler conversation...)

Proscuitto, Mozzarella, Basil and Roasted Red...
