Mommas boy Lionel accidently gets a date with Pequita the girl who works at the local store and he takes her to the zoo, Mom isn't pleased and does all she can to spoil the day but while spying on Lionel and Pequita she is bitten by a Samatra rat monkey causing her to die and resurrect as a zombie, Lionel can't accept she's dead so keeps her and any other zombies she creates tranquillised in his basement and tries to live his life as normal, when Lionel's uncle takes over the house and has a party Lionel decides to put an end to it all by injecting the zombies with poison and burying them but accidentally he uses an animal steroid which instead of killing them turns them into super zombies, Braindead is created by Peter Jackson who went onto direct big blockbuster movies like king kong and the lord of the rings but this is so different that it's hard to believe those movies are the work of the same director, it's clearly influenced by the Evil Dead movies and despite being a comedy film is probably the most bloody and most gory zombie movie ever made 😉, there are some really funny moments like the kung fu priest who "kicks ass for the lord" 🤭, or the zombie baby's day at the park 🤣, my favourite part is when Lionel clears out a hoard of zombies with his power lawnmower you can see their fingers and limbs going through the blades and there is just soooooo much blood, it definitely lives up to it's reputation as one of the goriest splatter movies ever made but it's also quite funny too, I first watched it on a bootleg vhs when I was at school and watching it again now reminded how much fun it is, if you like blood and splatter gore or the original Evil Dead movies then you'll love this
