This one comes from Japanese director Takashi Miike and is based on the anime of the same name, it's the ultimate Sadist against the ultimate masochist, Ichi is a very confused young man he's incredibly shy and repressed especially around girls and is really confused by his emotions but secretly he has been brain washed by Jijii into believing members of the yakuza are the kids who bullied him at school and he must kill them all so he can put an end to all the bullies in the world, one of the Yakuza bosses Ichi kills is Anjo and now his sadomasochistic employee Kakihara is hunting Ichi down for revenge, This movie is super gory and is banned in many countries for it's graphic violence but it's all done in a way that resembles a video game (like Mortal kombat for example) there's all the Takashi Miike trade marks like his extreme action, twisted characters and brutal torture and he's wonderfully inventive with them (he never holds anything back), Kakihara has such a cool look, he has bleached blonde hair and is covered in scarification and piercings including a split mouth, he's the ultimate sadomasochist and a very dangerous man but at the same time he seems almost feminine in some ways which is very different than all the pumped up ego and masculinity of most villains, Ichi's weapon of choice is a razor blade in the heel of his boot which he uses to slice up his victims and like Kakihara he has none of the masculinity and bravado of most super heroes he constantly cries and arrives to do his hits on a push bike he also wears a big number 1 on his suit so he has a very childlike character, it's really worth watching if you like extreme Asian cinema and if you can find it as it doesn't appear on any streaming service at the moment so you may have to track down a DVD
