Night 9 - Dead of night (1974)
Andy is killed in the Vietnam war but his mother prays constantly everyday and wishes "Andy you can't die, you promised you'd come back" and amazingly days after being declared dead he comes home but this Andy is very different, at first he's very detached, spending all his time sat in his room with the lights off rocking away in his rocking chair, he never eats or wants to see people and when people do try to get close he gets aggressive he even strangles the family dog infront of everyone, his skin condition gets worse and worse and his eyes get redder and redder and that's because Andy is really dead after all and needs fresh blood to regenerate, based around the Vietnam war Andy's character shows effects like ptsd and the filmmakers wanted to show how people become different and lose part of themselves and their humanity after traumatic experiences it's also a clever twist on the old monkeys paw story where when someone makes a wish it comes true but not in the way they wanted and usually goes horribly wrong destroying everything around them, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the scene were a rapidly deteriorating Andy tried to crawl into his grave and pull the dirt over himself was amazing
