I was really excited to watch Barbarian as I'd never seen it before and the trailer looked incredible, it's really a movie of two halfs set in a run down area of Detroit so I'll start with the first half which I loved, Tess is heading for an interview (Georgina Campbell) and arrives at her air b&b late at night only to find she's double booked and there is already a guy staying there, he seems a little too friendly to help out but also really felt really suspicious (maybe that's just because he's recognisable as Pennywise in the IT remake), Bill Skarsgard is really good at this type of character and seems both sinister and yet innocent at the same time, I loved how the suspicion and intensity built up between the two actors and when Tess finds a hidden room built for snuff movies it makes Keith seem even more dangerous and I loved where the film was heading but unfortunately the second half spins in a different direction and became something like those wrong turn or hills have eyes mutant movies which are ok I guess but I was just disappointed it went that way and didn't follow it's darker edge and suspenseful atmosphere and traded it for jump scares and cringey moments, it's still a fun movie to watch and definitely worth a try expecially for the excellent first half
Enjoy the trailer 👻👻👻 and feel free to share your memories and stories of these movies if you've watched them or have others you'd like to share
