I don't even know where to start with this blog I'm so overwhelmed! The last month has been an absolute whirlwind of an adventure traveling around Europe and meeting some amazing new friends.
I'll lay this blog out similarly to my last holiday blog on Africa by giving you guys my top 5 memorable moments from my trip! You can go across to my Instagram account to see more photos from my holiday _Kettle and this is the link to my Africa Blog if you wanted to check that out. Link
I'll start from the beginning I guess and that was the two longest flights ever! The only downside to living in Australia is that if we ever want to go overseas it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll have a 14+ hour flight in there somewhere. Sucks doesn't it!
Yup.
Try sitting for 14 hours in the row right in front of the bathrooms.... I can't even.
Bonus to my second flight which was over 6 hours was that I had 3 seats to myself. THREE SEATS!!! You bet your ass I spent 6 hours laying across all three and sleeping haha.
I arrived in one piece and had the afternoon and night to catch up on my sleep before my tour started bright and early the next day. My trip itself lasted around 33 days and the picture below shows just how much of Europe I drove around and some of the sights and places i stopped in.
To save some blog time and space I'm going to jump straight into my top 5 moments from this trip and what a trip it was!
1. Paris:
Whoever doesn't fall in love with this city is just crazy! It's absolutely stunning! My first views of this city was a city lights driving tour which we stopped just at sunset to see the Eiffel tower in all her glory.
The buildings in Paris are gorgeous and I absolutely fell in love with the lattice work and flower boxes along the windows. I did however underestimate how long it was going to take me to walk around this city. My feet were so dead by the end of the day that I had to push the backs of my converse down to wear them like slippers they were so sore!
I walked the entire Champs De Elysees, went to the top of The Arc De Triomphe to then walk back down the Champs De Elysees to get to Laduree sweet shop.... mmmm macrons <3 Walked the entire length of the Luvre and back to then walked all the way to the Eiffel tower. I stopped for lunch under the Eiffel tower and then went on a bike ride around the city.
Scariest experience of my life!!! Paris traffic you legit scare the bajesus outta me!
2. Switzerland:
Ahhhhh Switzerland is right out of a postcard! Its picture perfect. Being raised out in the country I much prefer the hills and fields to a busy city street so I felt right at home here. I stayed in a small area called Lauterbrunnen which is nestled in between a whole bunch of mountains and off the sides of some of those are little waterfalls. One even happened to be within a 5 minute walk of my camp site.
I took the train up to Jungfrau Mountain which is the highest peak you can reach via public transport. The train takes about 2 hours and unfortunately for me the day I decided to go up the weather took a bit of a turn. It was snowing though so I did have fun playing in that haha.
3. Rome:
We took a brief stop before we actually arrived in Rome and I couldn't not do a tourist typical shot with the Leaning Tower of Pizza.... of course mine was a bit different haha
I fell in love with Rome. There was so much to see and do in Rome that If I were to go back and do Europe it would definitely be on my to visit again list. The buildings are so old and grandeur that it just took my breath away.
One such building that you could easily get lost in was the Colosseum. Seriously, WOW! My big camera decided to overheat and fritz out on me 10m away from it so the only photos and footage I have from that day is on my phone and on my GoPro. Still it was amazing.
Guys, I stood inside and touched the Colosseum!!
4. Venice:
This was on my bucket list..... More so sitting in a gondola and having someone paddle me down the canals of Venice haha.
I was so lucky the day I went to Venice as by 3:30 in the afternoon a massive storm hit and torrential rain poured down on us. My Gondola trip happened at 1. Awww yeah Kettle ticked off another thing on her bucket list.
5.EVERYTHING:
It's hard to sum up a month long trip into a few points that really stood out because there was so many! If you follow me on my Instagram you will have seen a lot more but for this point I'm going to sum up a few events with a picture.
I went swimming in beaches in Croatia.... and walking on pebbles hurt like a biatch.
I went Canyoning in Austria down a few waterfalls and it was the best experience ever!!! So much fun!
I met TERRY CREWS!!!!! AHHHHHHH <3 He's the best!!
Ummmm Also in Austria I kind of came off my bike and had a really nasty fall. I'm going to save you by not posting the picture of the injury or my bandaged leg but this picture is from a few days later when I couldn't walk up the stair case of my hostel and this particular elevator seemed to know what was up and magically had a chair built into it haha. All smiles for not having to limp up stairs!
