I hate training scheduling.
Wait, let me say that again. I FUCKING hate training scheduling.
So, I'm supposed to be done about the second week of may with all this simulator training. So, my first sim session gets cancelled and no one bothers to call me or my sim partner about it. So, we're hanging out at the simulator building for about an hour before we find someone who is nice enough to tell us that scheduling "screwed you guys." Did I mention I'm not alone in my dislike of the scheduling dept?
So, they cancelled my sim sessions on Sat and Sun as well. So, we're THREE behind at this point. We're told "We'll call you on Monday to let you know what your new schedule is since we can't change next week's schedule until then."
Monday comes and goes, no phone call to myself OR my sim partner. So, I call today. Well, they managed to squeeze in one sim session in Thursday and there is "open time" on the 3rd and 4th that we MIGHT be put in. Otherwise, they'll move my checkride back.
Dammit people, all I want is to get done with training and get out to fly the goddamn airplanes. I THOUGHT that's what you wanted as well!!!! Jesus, we've got people getting mandatory overtime and called on their days off because there aren't enough pilots, and the training dept is fucking around which doesn't help matters.
So, BEST case scenario is I get 5 sim sessions in a row (which each session includes multiple catastrophic failures, some in snow and ice, most with only one engine instead of two and no autopilot), a day off, two more sessions in a row, a day off, my checkride, my sim partner's checkride and a simulated flight from Memphis to who-knows-where in the sim. Worst case scenario, my checkride gets pushed back about two weeks......
At least as an instructor in those "little planes" I set my own schedule.
