The album Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop by the Stone Temple Pilots reminds me of this very bad experience I had in the second grade (around the time that this album came out and the single "Big Bang Baby" could be heard nearly every hour on the alternative rock radio station constantly playing in our dining room). I remember taking a field trip to the zoo on one fine spring day. I wore a denim skirt that day. My nails were painted pink, but they were chipping and looked hideous. Because my nails were far from perfect, my ridiculous eight-year-old obsessive compulsive tendencies made me feel inadequate and ugly. I decided that when I got home from the field trip, I would attempt to remedy my ugly nails with some fresh red nail polish. I devised this ridiculous plan of just painting in the chipped areas with the red polish... thus creating what I thought to be a very "creative" and "cool" look with the remaining pink polish. I took my cosmetic endeavors to the bathroom. But all hell enveloped my plan. The bottle of red nail polish tipped over and spilled into the bath tub (it was resting on the ledge), and it also spilled all over my denim skirt. I spent forever cleaning out the tub with nail polish remover. I knew if my dad saw the stained tub, my ass would be grass, but I also knew that if he smelled the nail polish remover, he would also be repulsed into a grumpy mood for the rest of the evening. I was screwed either way, but I knew that neglecting to clean the tub would be a very poor choice on my part. Additionally, obviously I ruined the skirt. To hide the evidence, I snuck downstairs and threw the wadded-up skirt into a black garbage bag located in the depths of my basement. I never tried to find the skirt again, and I didn't paint my nails for awhile after that. To top everything off, my nails didn't even look that nice. My dad also noticed the smell and was angry about it, because, like every normal person, he thinks finger nail polish and remover smell disgusting; however, I don't think he ever mentioned noticing stains on the tub.
I am in a rather chipper mood. I completed my homework early tonight. Early = before 2:30-3:00 AM. I actually understood and sort of ENJOYED my philosophy homework, and I feel pretty good about the political science test I have tomorrow. While I doubt I'll get much higher than a 90%, I am starting to not care. In the end, I will probably get an A- or a B+ in the class, and neither of those grades are worth the worry. I scheduled for spring quarter last week, and I only managed to pick up one of the classes I mentioned in my previous entry. The other classes were full. So, here's what my spring quarter looks like:
Monday and Wednesday:
1. Into to Publication Design
10:10 AM - 12:00 PM
2. American National Government
1:10 PM - 3:00 PM
Tuesday and Thursday:
3. Into to Health and Life Choices
12:10 PM - 2:00 PM
4. Advertising Principles
3:10 PM - 5:00 PM
Friday:
NO CLASSES!!! WOO HOO, EARLY WEEKEND!!!
Here's the skinny:
1. This class is a requirement of the commercial photography sequence.
2. This class fulfills the second political science requirement that I have to meet for the School of Visual Communication.
3. This class fulfills the four hours of "applied science" that I need to graduate. (Also known as a "general education requirement.")
4. This class is a requirement of the commercial photography sequence.
So, all in all, not too bad. My polisci teacher is suppose to be good-looking, British, and a former White House employee to boot. Could be interesting. My advertising teacher is Chinese is speaks ever-so-slowly, so that could mean trouble, but I've heard the class is easy, so boringness does not really factor in on my list of concerns.
Did you know that Spike Lee directed a documentary about the effects of hurricane Katrina entitled "When the Levees Broke?" I didn't, but apparently it's showing in the Washington lobby this week, Thursday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 4th. Snacks and discussion are welcomed.
I had a pretty good day. I shaved my legs, ate a lot, received some nice compliments in my photo class regarding my last assignment, and got plenty of sleep. However, my muscles are still sore from playing Wii this past weekend with Dan.
And so it goes.
Shameless self-promotion: ALSO, DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT SOME OF MY RECENT PHOTOGRAPHY AT: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaboohshoobah

you've got some pretty interesting classes. i'm on the semester schedule, so im in the same classes till may. organic chem_2.0 [aka benzene and carbonyls are now your life], organic chem lab, statistics, physiology and my favorite, history of pharmacy. in the fall ive got all pharmacy classes: intro biochem, intro pharmaceutics, intro pharmacology, pharmacy practice management, intro to pharmaceutical care, intro professional practice experience and a professional elective [likely to be leadership for pharmacy professionals].
She looked over at me
I giggled
she said alright what happened?
I did that when i was seven mom...i'm kind of surprised it hasn't moved.
I glued it back together and it sits on top of our microwave now...funny how that works.
