I got to work this morning, only to discover my boss took the rest of the week off on vacation, so I was unaware of if I had Sunday off for when Dad flies home for the weekend. So I call the group home (because I was working at the day program today) and asked if I was still written in for the shift; they said yes. Umm ok... I requested the day off over a week ago... so I call the "back up" supervisor and she has no clue to scheduling. My boss calls 15 minutes later as they contacted her at home and she said almost everyone has refused to get back to her or do the shift. NICE. Considering more than half of the people she asked, I have covered one or more, of their shifts for them and they were all "Oh Kayla, I owe you one."
So my boss told me two more staff she hadn't got a hold of yet to try and then she said, try asking a full time staff at the group home to switch. fat chance, I know they will all be nos, no matter how many times I've covered for them. So at this point I'm in a rage about to friggin' burst, my eye is swelling with tears.. I call the one staff, left a msg... and then apparently no one had the other staff's number. I remember her other job and go to a website online and get her email address in the contact page. Email her... go off to the marsh. In the afternoon my phone rings and she tells me she can work the shift; I literally jump up and down for joy, and so do my co-worker and clients. So yea, I feel much much better now. I just certainly know who to NOT cover for when they come up and flutter their lashes and ask if I can work "this shift" for them and they'd "owe me". My response now will definitely be, "sorry I have plans. "
The co-worker that took my shift will be getting a thank you card and some kind of certificate because she so did not have to take this Sunday shift as she works full time elsewhere.
Why I'm so anxious to spend time with my Dad and Mum on Sunday is that it's looking like Dad will not get his transfer to late fall-early winter. Mum is wanting to move up there with the dogs, and I will be taking care of the grounds, house, etc all myself. They could not be back til Christmas if they do... (this is a big IF). So yea.. spending time would be good in case that happens..
OH. I dropped my car off for body work; he will be getting it done tomorrow or Friday. yay!! then she will be rust free again...i can't wait.
Today we went to Luther Marsh in Grand Valley for the majority of the day. Did A LOT of walking and had a picnic. Managed to snap a few pictures.

Lovely pictures and VERY good news about your shift! I hate it when colleagues just use every excuse not to cover for you and switch shifts - so glad I don't have a job like that anymore - a friend does and he has the same problems all the time.
