Ugh, seriously. I can't stand anything on TV (or, for the most part, in movies) where the set-up is that someone has done something that puts them in a very, very uncomfortable situation. I can't handle it. The idea that this is somehow entertaining for some people perplexes and disturbs me.
Barren lands and barren minds
In another place and time
I feel I've never known myself
Frozen in the sand again
See the blank expressions waiting for progression
They're standing still in place and time
And no one's moving, they're only
Standing still in ice cold ice cold ice
All machines and all are one
Catching up on what's been done
Stealing glimpses from the... Read More
This is crazy awesome. A 40 gigapixel, 360 degree photograph of the inside of the Strahov Philosophical Library in Prague, a place where the public aren't even allowed to go.
Pro-tip: zoom in. Then zoom in some more. Moooore.
Yes, i didn't know him personally, but he definitely got the gears turning. He was one of the people, when he posted, i would have to educate myself intensely on a subject to even keep up in a conversation with him. I didn't always agree with what he said, but he definitely had my respect.
I don't smoke in my truck for that very reason. I am a light smoker, less than a pack a day and i am reducing that. But when i drive, i noticed i chain smoke, mostly because i am bored. I had gone about three months without cleaning my old truck due to wintery conditions. When i finally hit the windshield with some windex, the windex turned brown and it turned the paper towels a very tar like brown.
The new truck hasn't been smoked in since then. I figure when i do finally decide to quit, it will just make it that much easier.
I am sorry money is a problem, i stopped getting depressed about it some time ago and just accepted i will always be upper lower middle class.
After a month of sleeping at night and not being a retail serf, my brain and body are starting to recover. I no longer feel like I'm five steps from the grave. My imagination has come back along with a little bit of the wit I used to have, and I've actually wanted to write again. And what I have written has been easy, not... Read More
You know, that night out for some mexican food some friends asked me to come to, that I was going to turn down, does sound good after all. And big hugs for everybody, because any one of us could snuff it at any time, and you never fucking know.
Hey, no problem. It's actually one of Swans' new songs since they got back together and put out that album last year. I just bought it off iTunes a couple of weeks ago, and I CANNOT recommend it enough. If you have eight bucks to spare, go get "My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky".
Sometimes the best people are taken from the world, from their friends and family and their children, far too young. Far too soon. It's cruel, and it's unfair. All you can do is try to remember them and let their memory inspire you to carry on with trying to make this world a better place for those who are left. Rest in peace, reprobate.
Productive morning so far. Wrote an SG blog post, have another one scheduled to go up today that I think people will like. Did the dishes, picked up the trash.
Have a question. We have a roommate who has a little chihuahua. I like the chihuahua OK, but her house training is horrendous, and she's a goddamn ninja about sneaking away for 2 seconds and... Read More
i agree with MisterSatan. If the dog is going to make a mess, it's best that it messes in the owner's room, not common areas of the house. If you really wanted to be nice, go out and buy some training pads and put them in her bedroom....but that's up to you.
I saw him a couple times on Countdown. He looked... older. I haven't really heard much else besides that.
The compost certainly steams in winter. Five thousand kilos of decomposing fruit and vegetables puts off a surprising amount of heat. It's going to be interesting come summer time.
