To spare all you lovely people from the rant that my head you get this bit of cheery information.........
This is what you find out from watching the discovery channel.
The Pacific Northwest (Vancover, Portland and Seatle) all lie within range of a Tsunami fault. They will not be hit by the wave but affected by the earthquake which could be as strong as 9.0. After the initial quake which will last for about 5 min. it will only be 30 min before the wave hits the shoreline of the PNW and 5 hours for the wave to hit Hawaii. More then 50,000 sq. miles will be affected. That's the GOOD news, the BAD news is that scientists can't predict when this will happen. Records show that the last time it happened in the PNW was 1700. Hrmmm........
Get this though! We won't have to worry about that if Yellowstone Nation Park (which is a supervalcano, yes the entire park) erupts again. There is a chance that it could just be a small single eruption or that it could triger several small eruptions that could create a super eruption. If that were to happen the US from CA to NY from Canada to mid-Texas would be coverd in an atmospheric ash cloud. Causing the temp. to drop 15 degrees for several years and would cause most of the country to be covered in snow for a large part of the year. Not only here in the US but the atmosphere would be affected all around the world. Thus changing the climate, economics, geography and basicly life as we know it. The last time this happend was 640,000 years ago, Yellowstone is still active, it's not a question of if but when..........
Conclusion- What general society now holds importaint, will no longer matter and we will have a whole new set of priorities......... cool huh?!
