I picked up inFamous and I have to say the back half does pickup, though it is a flawed and occasionally buggy game, but as a new IP it has potential.
The real value from the game isn't inFamous though, it's the crack dealer like first taste of Uncharted 2's Multiplayer Beta. In Canada and the US inFamous came with a voucher code to get you in to the Multiplayer beta, and it is shinny very very shinny. I want to first say that I am not a big multiplayer fan, I like the idea of co-op but I'm not a fan of Quake or UT style online multiplayer. Only two games before this have perked my interest, the original Unreal Tournament and Bad Company, so I'm coming at this from as an outsider to the concept. (Though I play FIFA online and MMOs)
I loaded up the first time, and just hit join. in seconds I'm paired up with 10 hours players, split into two groups and it was off to the races. First team with 25 kills wins, I really did get slaughtered that first game but still enjoyed myself. The second game left me confused, for a while. It's basically Capture the Idol. you have to pick up a gold Idol and haul it back to a treasure box. I love this game type, as it has so much potential for epic team battles. You can toss the idol, and actually need to on one of the maps to get to the treasure chest you need to put it in to score. I can see team battles of pass the idol going on that will just be made of awesome.
There is a Co-op Mode as well, this is also very nifty, you and three other people, play through a mission that is based (I assume) on a game level, and have to work together to get through it. You have to watch each others backs, and work together to complete tasks. I learned the hard way in one battle that you need have someone covering your rear, or else you get slaughtered. It's a very interesting game dynamic to play through, and with a head set you can have a really good time.
This beta has in one day done what no other game has ever made me want to do, buy a head set and play lot of multiplayer when this game comes out.
If you have bought inFamous you should, it's worth it, for it's enjoyable game play, and this Beta Go out play it, love it, live it.
On a side note, Toronto FC are offically fired...
