So once again, I find myself living on the brink of destitution. I had to pull out my last $60 from my checking account yesterday (out of the $64.40 left in there), since STILL nowhere in this fucking city accepts credit cards yet.. just to come home to find a note from my landlord stuck in my mailbox saying if I don't immediately pay her a $250 pet deposit (I've lived here for 3 years now, wtf??) I have 10 days to vacate my apartment!!!
Okay, I know, this is obviously illegal, but most people don't understand the situation in new orleans right now: since the hurricane, landlords all over the city are illegally evicting people and/or throwing out all their shit on the curb, and the tenant justice system is simply far too overwhelmed right now to be able to deal with anything but the most severe grievances. So trying to fight this is pretty much a complete lost cause
Well, I put up a good fight at least.. Katrina took months to fucking knock me down and out, but it looks like it might finally have got the best of me in the last showdown
Fuck you, Katrina.
