So I watched Pregnant in America last night. What a great documentary. The story of my pregnancies. I feel as though I have been taken advantage of by the healthcare system. I was induced when I didn't need to be, even though my lil man was late. 1 out of 2 inductions end up C-section. Plus when I wanted to do a VBAC with both my other kids my doctor acted like I was crazy! And of course I did what the doctor wanted because I was falsely assured VBAC was unsafe. Studies show that having a VBAC is perfectly safe. Doctors just prefer C sections because it's on their time. The US c section rate is 30%!!!! In some states its as high as 80%! In countries like Holland 87% of deliveries are done at home and only cost $800. Why is it most insurance companies won't pay for midwifes or home births when its a fraction of the cost to deliver at a hospital!!!! It's about $2,500 to have a midwife birth but $15,000 to deliver in a hospital and $40,000 to deliver via c-section! Now I know why my doctor pushed a c-section all 3 times. I'm pissed! I wanted a natural birthing experience so bad and all this time I really thought my doctor cared about me! When really a c-section as well as my induction with my first posed a lot of unnecessary risks, among them death of both mother and baby. Plus lack of sex drive, possibility to not breastfeed which might be why my youngest just couldn't breastfeed. I am bound and determined to find a doctor who will, if I ever have another baby, deliver my next baby all natural.
