I reach inside the void,

deep within my mind.

The darkness swallows everything

not sure what I might find.



I feel a key and find the lock,

a twist and the door is open.

A rushing noise, I realize,

my life wont be the same again.



Immediately the thoughts are free,

The hurt, the hate, the rage.

Releasing them is painful,

thats why I built the cage.



Whats happened, when, where and why,

so many things I had forgotten.

How bittersweet the memories,

of happy times turned rotten.



My deepest, darkest, painful truths,

released into the light.

Palms are sweaty, breath shallow,

my tears have blurred my sight.



I cant go back, I cant return

the innocence is lost.

Now I'll pay for all my sins,

can I afford the cost?
