So I figure most (if not all) of you have heard about the tornadoes down here...that would be why I wasn't able to get on here all weekend.
Tornadoes and work
After a really long Thursday night ~ Friday morning where all family was calling to check on us (at 3 am) I got to work at 8 am Fri. and didn't get to leave until 7 pm Sun. Being a county employee when the county is under a state of emergency really sucks! I had my wonderful hubby bring me my air bed, blankets, pillows, x-tra clothes, toothbrush, etc. We worked 14 hrs straight thru on Fri, by the time we were done we were too tired to sleep so we stayed up playing cards for a while. Got up at 5 am, working by 6, half hour break for lunch, hour for dinner, stopped working around 9 pm, so tired we all passed out almost as soon as we hit the beds. Sunday started the same except we got an hour break for lunch...during which nobody ate, we relaxed and napped, then we attacked our boss with pillows...and we got to go home at 7 pm. I came home and crashed then had to be back for a normal work day at 8 am Mon. But we should be getting lots of overtime although they are saying we won't get any compensation for our sleep time, even though we weren't allowed to go home Either way we'll see. Oh and to top it off!...between the lack of sleep, physical exhaustion, improper eating, sleeping under an AC vent, etc. I now have a cold AND I'm supposed to start vacation this coming Saturday.
Tornadoes and home
No damage to our house or any of our family. But if they show the path it took, the worst of it was directly over us around 3:15 am. If you travel out from our house in any direction there's damage about 3-5 miles away, it makes a giant circle around us. Landmarks that I grew up with (since I've lived here my whole life) are just gone, worse than any hurricane. I know the TV has been focusing on the Villages (because those people have more money and are more likely to vote and will bitch if they aren't on TV) but the worst of it was in Lake Mack. My hubby grew up out there, all the kids who lived there went to school with us. We knew at least 8 of the people killed there. In a different area a friend lost his classic mustang collection and his business when both buildings and their contents just vanished, another friend who lives close to them lost her house when it collapsed, then her barn collapsed killing 2 horses, but all the people are okay. Emotionally I'm numb from all of this, I haven't cried yet but I know it's coming.
Tornadoes and business
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Give these 2 businesses your patronage! They are the only ones who have donated to the victims (donated thru us) of these storms.
Tractor Supply Inc. (they may only be a southern company)
Petco...you know...where pets go
If you have pets please buy your supplies from these companies. Petco showed up Friday with a semi full of stuff for the victims, and it not just for their pets, there's stuff they can use for themselves. 28 pallets of stuff!
Tractor supply filled our full size truck bed up with pet food 3 times then brought us 2 more pallets.
I want to say THANK YOU to these companies and let them know they have a loyal customer in me.
That's all I have time for right now, I have to get to work
