Sooooo, ive been busy with rehearsals for Madama Butterfly, an opera by Puccini. I sing the role of Pinkerton, the American naval officer who marries Butterfly, and then leaves her with a child to go marry a "real american wife"... (He actually says that)...
It felt kind of strange doing this role again after about 5 years, I've been doing more Verdi operas lately, so its kind of refreshing to do a Puccini again. His operas are much more "lyrical" in a way, and it fits my voice nicely. Not that the Verdi's does not fit, they're just need more stamina, much harder work. Yes I'm lazy
Rehearsals are going great, the soprano is just AMAZING, so a lot to live up to. Saturday is first rehearsals with the orchestra, with a Spanish conductor, I'm really looking forward to those, then the opera starts to LIVE!
So enough of this for now, I'll try and put some photos on the blog, so you can see!
