i just got back from my first japanese class and im now even more fascinated with the language than i was before.
our teacher (or should i say 'sensei'?)
is a tiny cute japanese lady called Ituko and today she taught us how to introduce ourselves and eachother, how to say where we and others are from and we also got a basic introduction to the japanese alphabet.
i was particularly nervous about the latter, as ive always thought 'christ, ill NEVER be able to get THAT'.
But, on being given a brief introduction to it, and after reading through the harigana alphabet, i really feel like i understand how it works....not that i think ill be able to write in japanese for a LONG time, just that i get WHY it works.
and thats a great feeling.
i didnt like having to say things ive learnt out loud to the class, but gaining the confidence to speak another language out loud is one of the other reasons i took this class.
now im off to go and sleep with my mind a little bit more open than before.
