again my laziness with maintaining a constant stream of thought here is evident.
slightly disappointed in myself because i really doooo have good intentions of writing here frequently
but that would involve writing at all which seems to have become a challenge ever since i finished my ext 2 poetry for my hsc. as if all my psychological angst had just vented itself into that and now i have to wait for another ten years for it to build up again?
alas here i am.
things are okay atm. much prefering this uni degree to my old one. i was lucky enough to have a supporting and slightly pushy gf to make me realise i was wasting my time with the old one. i did have issues with every person in my photography class claiming they were world class because they owned a camera. most of them didnt know what an SLR was.
but media communications and journalism is proving much more practical i guess?
im hoping i can put my photography work in there.
apparently im okay at it according to my general friend population. ill have to judge my skill by them since the only criticism i ever received from my fine arts tutor was 'i get what your doing. keep doing it.' this is just another reason why i changed degrees.
work atm is eh. the whole recession thing here really is starting to get straining. its amusing how for so long all the media and government avoiding using the word and now they are just throwing it in all the time as reasons behind any sort of crisis here. like its an easy scapegoat. which ties in really well with my recent journalism readings about how the media manipulates words to shift blame.
take for example how australia is planning to complete pull out from the iraq war. i read this reading about how articles in print media will often use headlines like 'bombs dropped on iraq' or 'planes drop bombs on iraq' as opposed to '*insert country here* planes drop bombs on iraq' as if omitting those certain details will place the blame on those objects (the plane or bomb itself) as opposed to those responsible for manning the plane or making the bomb? i just found it really interesting.
oh look im just rambling again. =]

P.S represent the ramblers!
I had a massive internal ethical conflict when I started my career(I work in advertising). But I concluded a few things. I love people and have a fair amount of respect for the average Joe but if you're stupid enough to believe everything that's fed to you by the media... You deserve to lose your money.
I also worked out that I am in the industry because I like to entertain people with witty ideas.
I've found with the photographers I know they all have the technical knowledge but they don't all have to flair. And the ones that do seem to be pretty down to earth and professional. In my experience.
