I had a massive internal ethical conflict when I started my career(I work in advertising). But I concluded a few things. I love people and have a fair amount of respect for the average Joe but if you're stupid enough to believe everything that's fed to you by the media... You deserve to lose your money.
I also worked out that I am in the industry because I like to entertain people with witty ideas.
I've found with the photographers I know they all have the technical knowledge but they don't all have to flair. And the ones that do seem to be pretty down to earth and professional. In my experience.
