Today I went shopping at costco with my kids and i was sooo hungry, i decided to get the kids and i something to eat before shopping. So there I am with these lil guys sitting quietly only because of pizza, churros, and frozen yogurt is occupying their mouths, when this rather handsome, much older gentleman sits down next to us. He smiles at me and I smile back.. before i know it my kids are no longer eating but bombarding him with their most important stories, even my little jackie (almost 4 years old), who is extremely shy, stood up to show him her latest booboo on her knee before resuming her shy stance clinging to my side.
This goes on and i explain bits of what my son is saying because it can be difficult to understand his stories when he whispers some of it. At first I was thinking my kids are becoming a neusance, that they should calm down and eat but this man is actually smiling and replying to them.
He was rather handsome regardless of age but if I were to guess his age, I'd say around seventy. For certain, much older than I'd ever consider. He looked like an actor, like maybe the dr. from "Lost in Space" or another actor from that Martian series.
But at the end when I had to get up and collect the kids to leave, I thanked him for sitting with us and his lovely conversatiion. He blushed, tiltiing his head down a bit and said something "... pretty girl" I think he was the saying he was the one that is thankful but I'm not sure. Still I can't help but be very flattered, it was very sweet.
so little things like a chit chat with a stranger can really lift the spirits. Its nice to get out and enjoy the moment.
