I volunteer with a Dog Rescue that brings homeless puppies up from the south and finds them loving homes in PA. But our group is in serious trouble, if we loose this opportunity ALL DOGS ARRIVING IN THIS SHELTER WILL BE KILLED WITHIN 72 HOURS.
This is from the woman in charge of our group in MS.....
"This is an emergency!! I've got to make a long story short. ARRF is funded by
a bingo hall called ARRF Bingo. All of the things that we have been able to
do, is because of the bingo hall. This is how we are able to vaccinate all dogs
and to provide preventive care, to treat for heartworms, mange, and many other
problems, pay for transports to other states, provide propane for heat in the
winter and fans for the summer, buy dog food, and so many, many other things
that I can't think of because my mind is racing. ALSO, IF WE LOSE THIS BINGO
HALL, OUR CHANCES OF HAVING A NEW, UP-TO-DATE HUMANE SHELTER WILL GO OUT OF THE WINDOW. WE CANNOT LOSE THIS HALL!!!! Times are hard and bingo halls are
suffering. Because we operate legitimately with all money going to the dogs, we
have not been able to satisfy the Mississippi Gaming Commission's 60/40 rule.
This is where you can only spend 60% of your monthly revenue on expenses. This
rule has not changed since it was enacted in the 1990's. Well, we all know how
everything has gone up-- minimum wage, utilities, and the price of just about
everything. Everything, that is, except the 60/40 rule. 70/30 is much more
realistic. We have a meeting with Sonny Weathersby with the Mississippi Gaming
Commission on Thursday, Nov. 6th at 10:30 a.m. to try to plead our case. He is
the head of Charitable Gaming in Mississippi. I'm sorry about the late notice,
but we need to get everyone to email him at sweathersby@mgc.state.ms.us and tell
him how hard we at ARRF work (with few volunteers), how, without the bingo hall,
it will be the end of the dogs chances to make it out of the shelter and into a
loving home. It will be the kiss of death for the dogs that we work so hard to
place. Things will go back to the way they were, the dog catcher coming out and
shooting the dogs after they have been in the shelter for a few days. WE CANNOT
LET THIS HAPPEN!!! If any of you have adopted a dog, please let Mr. Weathersby know
how much the dog means to you and if you have a picture that you can attach,
please do so. Also, prayers will be appreciated!!!
Thanks so much,
Ann
DO IT FOR THE PUPPIES!!
