I have a lot of different sets not only for SG, but also for “my soul”. Of course, I remember all my sets, as each of them brought a bit of experience and impressions in my life. Sometimes it's fun sets, sometimes challenging, sometimes inspiring. Today I will discuss about a set shot by the talented Ilya Kisaradov.
His shooting shook me to the core. He has different areas in his art: cycle of hands, phobias cycle, cycle under heaven of Palmyra and many others. Our collaboration was a shot cycle of phobias and called "OSTRAKONOFOBIYA" - Fear of shellfish.
So many years I wanted to get a photo with an octopus. It was a fixed idea, and even gestalt. When Ilya offered to shoot something like that, I immediately agreed, because he's a talented guy and many models dream to work with him and his team. I live in the cultural capital of Russia, and as it turned out – it was not so easy to get an octopus in town. We ordered an octopus in the online store and waited a long time for delivery, so preparing for the shooting took three weeks. On the day of shooting, we met in the morning and went to the Gulf of Finland, having found the perfect place, we realized that frozen octopus looks more like a block of ice than a shooting hero. All our big team went to the water with the aim of thaw out.
Even though it was August, the water was very cold, the wind, too, penetrated to the bones. Six hours later octopus finally succumbed, and we were able to see the beauty of him. The street was getting dark, and the sun came down just as much as it was necessary for beautiful shots. For generating the right atmosphere, I was painted in black ink, and my white dress was ruthlessly destroyed. ssistants fastened the octopus on me, he was very cold and heavy, but pretty enjoyable. Then we put on the wet rocks and began taking pictures. The shooting itself took just half an hour, and then a half-hour trip home. I think, I'll never forget the faces of the people in the metro, which looked at the bedraggled and wet me with an octopus in the bag. (I took him home and cooked a great dinner :))
It was a very tedious and costly shot, but I will never forget the feeling of happiness. What do you do something interesting that overcame my laziness and closed many years of Gestalt. It was cold, but the sun was shining brightly, it was wet, but the noise of the water calming, was scary but the people around were ready to help. I really appreciate such shooting, because it is an invaluable experience, no matter as it looks the end result.
Thank you @missy and @rambo
