For most of my life, I have not looked my picture being taken. See, when I was younger, I was skinny, scrawny, sticks and bones small; it gave me image problems that persisted well into adulthood. Eventually, I got over the worst aspects of my image, and was able to accept that some women (and some men) might find me attractive, but still to this day, I do not like my picture being taken.
Part of this is that most people who take pictures, take shitty pictures. They don't interact with you at all, don't try to get you to stand up straight, or look at the camera, or get closer to whoever is in the picture with you. The end result is a lot of pictures of me that are awkward with forced smiles, closed eyes, slouched shoulders, and so on. Most pictures of me, I hate.
The few I do like have been taken by my photographer friends, or myself.
Tomorrow this is changing. Tomorrow, my good friends is going to do a little mini shoot with me so I can gain some confidence in front of the camera. I'm excited, I'm anxious, I'm stoked, and I'm nervous. With any luck, the pictures will be worthy of sharing with all of you, which I'm really hoping is the case, because it would be awesome to get some feedback from this community.
Wish me luck!
PS: because it is weird to post something about pictures without including a picture, here is a selfie I took in my living room today.
