Things have been going well here on this hellishly sunny and cheerful island. Talked to one of my best friends from back home today whom I haven't heard from for about a year. So I'm all kinds of giddy over that. And Hila started giving Polynesian dance lessons tonight, and it turns out I'm a natural! Yay!
I had a thought today. The internet is being celebrated for its ability to connect people to each other all over the globe, but what about it's ability to segregate us? If we can filter out the people we don't want to talk to online, and ignore anyone who doesn't agree with us, will our horizons ever expand? If we have the ability to only talk to like-minded individuals, what will happen to the chance encounter that changes our lives forever?
