I've become really fascinated by the effects of advanced technology on culture. Especially communications, and the concept of an online community having more effect on a persons life than the people they interact with everyday.

A long time ago I found a site online, where some country (I can't for hte life of me remember which one) didn't exist anymore, and they had created an...

*blah blah blah*

what are the pros and cons of information anarchy?
are libraries anti-capitalist?
does making knowledge secret actually make everyone safer?
who gets to decide what knowledge is secret?
what power does that give them?

is knowledge still power when everyone has access to it?
gweggums:
the biggest problem with free information is that anyone has access to it....and you can't trust anyone. 1. you make no money, 2. Some secrets DO keep the world safer(Weapon placement, national defense, where's waldo, etc.), 3. IF all information was free, what would be the fun in stealing it biggrin
BTW....thanx for the testimonial....altough I can't picture you actually vocalizing it with a straight face ARRR!!!

I heard a good quote today while I was watching Bulletproof Monk.

"You can either sit on your ass and do nothing, or fly like a phoenix from the ashes of your pathetic life."

Other than that I've spent the last two days studying and watching movies. I think my social interaction with real people has been limited to about an hour total. Oh well,...

mrzarquon:
Philosophy classes are so overrated anyway.

I had to take one for humanities credits (because Anthro doesn't count since its my major....).

talk about frustrating. Close, secular world views, let alone the idea of there being a finite Truth. mad
gweggums:
I'm sorry....I hope ya didn't. frown Alt least yer not stuck here with us in the Snow smile

Vice of the Day: downloading philosophy texts
Word of the Day: Ampersand = &
Music: Gloria, by Poulenc
Thought of the Day: If in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your...

Guys? Approch me? Ha Ha Ha! That's Funny!

The majority of guys that I see, froma purely objective "is he hot?" stance, come up lacking. That said, once I get to know a guy, the personality makes all the difference, someone I might not think is hot objectively, will become really frickin' sexxy if their personality is right. There are alot more objectively good-looking women out there. But most of them have issues.

In my world:
Karl Marx is, at this moment, in a disco club over Russia dancing to country music.
Either, there is no physical world, or the world is only physical, and there's no way to check.
Our physical existence is just an amusement park ride for our alien souls.
Thoughts cannot be found in our brains, because really our heads just have dimensional rifts...

Yay! The presentation is done and now I just have to write a few papers, memorize a few songs, do a couple of performances on Th and my week'll be over. sigh, I need more hours in a day. (but only at the last minute, 'cause without procrastination nothing would get done.)

I shouldn't just randomly bitch, But I hate it when I do an image search and half the images that come up are anime (and that's not what I'm looking for) or really crappy artwork that some high schooler put on their website. It's just damn annoying. ARRR!!!

Argh! I just can't concentrate on this damn presentation! It's due tomorrow and I'm not even halfway though. *sigh* I doubt that anyone really cares about the "Effect of Colonialism on Current Fijian Politics" anyway. Except Fijians I suppose . . . Phooey

On a completely different note, I've recently decided that my favourite word is now: "Caddy-wompus" It means crazy or chaotic. Which is...
