So growing up I had so many different aspirations of what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I first started attending college, I had no idea what I really wanted to do with my life. I was kind of stuck in limbo, just taking classes to see what I enjoyed. My parents wanted me to go into the nursing field. So of course, being the good daughter that I am, I started taking classes for that field of study. I stuck with it for about 4 semesters when I decided that it wasn't for me.
I then dropped out of college for a while because financially I just couldn't afford it at the time. So I just got stuck with working dead end jobs for a good long while. During this time, I started to discover my love for creating costumes. It first started when I would make costumes for the raves that I would attend when I lived in CA. I absolutely loved the idea of getting dressed up and getting to be someone else. Then I attended my first anime convention and that's when I really started to love what I was doing.
I started cosplaying in 2012, and I still to this day cosplay. Since I loved to make costumes so much, I attended a college to get my associates in fashion design. However, I realized that fashion is not what I wanted to do, I wanted to make a career out of making costumes. So I decided to attend a school for my BA in theatre, since the school I applied for had a costume program! That's where I thrived!
After attending that university, I realized my ultimate dream job is to work in Hollywood one day and become a costume designer for Film and TV. Not only do I want to do costumes, but I also want to do special effects makeup as well! I fell in love with that class and continue to extend my SFX makeup portfolio!
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk! haha
