I'm so picky with tattoo styles, for what I want on my own body. Been doing a lot of searching around in Newfoundland where I'm moving back and I'm just, *sigh*. I can 100% see the appeal of the typical thick lines, almost "sailor" rooted tattoo styles, it's just not what I'm really into. I think I like very clean, thin (but with good line-weight) linework, and for color I like it very well blended, and with a good eye for the shades and lighting without being patchy. It's a pain I'm so picky for my own body, and it drives me nuts sometimes I'm a little perfectionist for it. Hell I'm never 100% happy with my own art (granted I do love my tattoo which I designed, and still love ones other people have tattoo'd on them I drew).
Point is, having a little bit of a rough time finding an artist for my next one. I'm going to be pretty lenient as the next one will probably be on the smaller side and more simple,.
Oh, I think my main point of my rant is also this. If you do a physical medium, especially tattoo-work (where you WANT people to see the absolute best of your work, and have people flocking to you), why. in the name of god. does nobody take proper pictures of their work? A good majority I looked at today from 5 different studios, with tons of different artists, most were phone pics and at the very best a mediocre point-and-shoot, resulting in pictures that weren't crisp at all where you couldn't make out all the details of the tats! I know it turned me away from a few on their pictures alone, if I can't see your work, why would I go to you? It's just very counter-productive, and a really poor decision to not take care of snapping your work, for both your own portfolio and your potential customers :(
Regardless, just a rant. Not dragging anybody, more of a suggestion. Regardless, going to be looking into my next one & touching up my current soon after I move back :)
