I made a playlist on my iPod to keep me energized and happy while I sew. It would seem that while I once was partial only to more political/socially-concious/poetic/lyrically-pretentious music, today I have sex on the brain. Yeah, fine, I always do, but even one of the songs I chose from a "political" band is about sex. Totally subconcious, I tell ya.
Here's the track listing, for anyone interested:
The Breeders - Saints
Buck 65 - Wicked and Weird
The B-52s - Rock Lobster
Beck - Soul Suckin' Jerk
Beck - Peaches & Cream
The Birthday Party - Fears of Gun
Bjork - Army of Me
Blondie - Atomic
The Clash - The Guns of Brixton
The Cramps - Human Fly
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
David Bowie - Breaking Glass
Death From Above 1979 - Black History Month
Josh Homme's Desert Sessions - I Wanna Make It Wit Chu
The Eagles of Death Metal - I Only Want You
Elvis Costello - Watching the Detectives
Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins - The Charging Sky
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues (live)
Kylie Minogue - Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head
Mogwai - Yes! I am a Long Way From Home
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee
The Pixies - Gouge Away
Prince - When Doves Cry
Le Tigre - Shred A
Tin Machine - Under the God
Tom Vek - C-C (You Set the Fire)
Two Lone Swordsmen - Sex Beat
Twenty-seven songs and half of them mention (or explicitly describe) sex or lust or lovin'. That's rock'n'roll for ya, but dang! I thought my music collection was all intellectual and shit. Um, in case you can't tell, I'm making fun of myself in that last sentence. Ok, back to sewing (and hopefully making out when boyfriend-man is done with soccer matches and cooking shows).
