I started community college a little while back and have a couple really rad courses. Environmental Geology is probably one of my favorites alongside Philosophy and Lit & Rhetoric. Currently we are learning about Volcanos... which are prettymuch badass in everyway. I never knew there could be so many sexual inuendos when talking about rocks. its pretty entertaining. Here are some pics of my favorite things we've discussed so far:

Pillow Lava- lava that is erupted under water and looks like pillows.


Pyroclastic flows are fluidized masses of rock fragments and gases that move rapidly in response to gravity.

My favorite kind of volcano is the Ultra Plinian- only 4 in recorded history... the largest being Yellowstone National Park 2 and a half million years ago (still evidence of volcanism today ie:sulfuric springs, magma caves, geisers, etc).... "when dinosaurs went extinct" or whatever. Other ones were Santornini which destroyed the Cycladic and most of the Minoan civilization in Greece... ash fell in india and china and the bang was heard all the way in Saudi Arabia... thats fucking brutal. Then Tambora in Indonesia which killed 92+ thousand people, caused a tsunamu and had a fallout of 6 years, and then Krakatau(Krack-a-toh-a) which was also was in indonesia, has a badass name, and also caused lots of death and destruction.

so yea.. volcanos are badass. end of story.
