I went to see The Last House on the Left today. A pretty good remake in my opinion. I was surprised by how many older folks were in the audience, not to mention how many couples were there. A film about sadistic murder and rape doesn't exactly strike me as date material. Even more fucked up was hearing a small child talking here and there throughout the whole thing. At that point you can only hope they're too young to really comprehend what's going on.
We had all the premium cable channels when I was a kid and some would probably say I saw too much too soon as well, but my parents had clearer guidelines than the people in the theater today.
A woman was standing near the ticket desk with her daughter when a pair of older women in front of my friend and I got their tickets for the movie, and she asked them if they'd ever seen the original, which they hadn't. She said she'd seen it when she was a freshman in college and that it's stuck with her to this day. I hope the kid has an easier time of it.
