Today was a miserable affair with a few new inches of snow on the ground, streets left untreated because school was canceled and the city fathers are being stingy with their salt supplies and manhours in the face of a flagging economy, and nearly half the office calling off because they either couldn't get to work (long commutes on equally untreated highways) or couldn't get anyone to watch their kids.
Being childless and living little more than a mile away from the building, I don't have the luxury of such excuses. It's definitely been an annoying winter.
My mood was surprisingly up despite the added stress. I played Animal Crossing: Wild World after the afternoon newspaper was laid out and ended up trying to explain the concept to the owner of the downtown diner I eat lunch at most days when she saw me playing it there, too. So silly and addictive. That Tom Nook fellow is an absolute criminal.
I've been watching Simpsons DVDs at night since I don't have anything new to read at the moment. Last night it was "Deep Space Homer" and Kent Brockman's infamous "And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords" line. Definitely one of the best gags that show has ever produced.
